In Sugar, Henry Thorpe is a friend of Sugar and part of the same organization as Sugar. Jason Butler Harner plays Henry.
Henry Thorpe first appears in the third episode of Sugar, during a meeting of the Cosmopolitan Polyglot Society.
Henry works as a professor of anthropology at Drummond University. When Sugar and Henry meet, the two discuss the places they should visit and how they are feeling lately.
Among everyone in his organization, Henry is someone Sugar can trust, which is why he calls for his help with injuries after learning that his organization is working against him.
Henry tells Sugar the truth
In the seventh episode of Sugar, it is revealed that everyone from the Cosmopolitan Polyglot Society is an alien, including Henry and Sugar.
However, lately, they have been kidnapping and murdering people, something they don’t do. After an encounter with Miller, one of his own, Sugar thinks that Henry is the next target.
Sugar leaves to save Henry, only to be late. He finds Henry safe and sound when he walks into a meeting of the Cosmopolitan Polyglot Society.
Ruby reveals that they have been asked to come back home, and Sugar is not willing to leave without finding Olivia.
At a time like this, Ruby continues to keep things from Sugar, but it’s Henry who comes forward and tells Sugar the truth.
The aliens are being blackmailed by a politician’s son, who is also Stallings’ client and has possibly kidnapped Olivia. He knows that they are aliens and is threatening to expose them.
Henry gives Sugar an address. Before Sugar can leave, Henry asks him about his last confrontation with Byron Stallings.
Sugar confesses that while he killed the first two people of Stallings’ crew to defend himself, he killed the third person, Stallings, because he felt like it.
Henry points out that the more they stay here, the more human they become. While Sugar leaves to look for Olivia, he agrees with Henry; they have stayed on this planet for too long.
Henry’s affiliation with Pavich
Despite saving Olivia from Ryan Pavich, Stallings’ powerful client, who had kept Olivia captive and was threatening the aliens with exposure, Sugar feels dissatisfied.
He listens to Pavich’s audio recordings and suspects that there was someone else involved with Pavich.
Sugar talks to Olivia, who confirms that there was another person who was taking notes when she was held captive by Pavich; she could hear this other person writing.
Repeatedly listening to Pavich’s tapes results in Sugar being reminded that Pavich uses the same words Henry used in a conversation with him.
It is revealed that Henry was working with Pavich. Both Henry and Sugar have changed after staying on this planet.
Henry is planning to stay further and learn more about humans. To stop Henry, Sugar decides not to leave with the rest of the aliens too.
What’s worse is that Sugar finds his sister Djen’s clothing in Henry’s closet, making him wonder if Henry had something to do with his sister’s disappearance, giving Sugar another reason to hunt Henry down.
