Harrison Yamanaka, a land swindler, is the mastermind behind several large-scale land frauds. In Tokyo Swindlers, Etsushi Toyokawa plays Harrison.
Harrison, a former gang member, first earned a reputation as a land shark before becoming known for orchestrating elaborate land frauds.
He was previously sentenced to prison, but even after spending five years behind bars, he continued committing land fraud. Eventually, he was arrested again.
However, the police had to let him go due to a lack of evidence. Harrison now leads a group of land swindlers, which includes his protégé, Takumi.
A ruthless criminal
Harrison is unlike any other con artist or intellectual criminal Detective Shimomura has ever met. He is a ruthless psychopath who also takes pleasure in killing people.
His group remains unaware that the people they hire to assume the identity of landowners in their frauds are killed by Harrison once the job is done.
He also takes pleasure in destroying lives. He considers his targets his prey and swindles them out of their money for the thrill of it.
When he no longer finds thrill in the scams his group commits, he decides to plan a fraud bigger and more dangerous than anything they have done before.
Harrison’s group targets a large corporation called Sekiyo House, not realizing that Harrison intends to kill them all to cover his tracks after they succeed.
Additionally, Harrison gets rid of anyone who discovers his plans. With a high-ranking police officer working for him, he is able to get away with his crimes.
The corrupt officer informs Harrison that Shimomura has figured out his group’s next move. Before Shimomura can take action, Harrison kidnaps and kills him, making his death look like a suicide.
Harrison’s own group member, Takeshita, becomes his victim. Takeshita suspects that Harrison is planning to murder him, so he tries to foil the group’s plans, leading to Harrison brutally killing him.
Once the scam is successfully pulled off, Harrison has the remaining members of the group killed, except Takumi, whom he considers his best masterpiece.
The man who destroyed Takumi’s life
Harrison had previously worked with a land swindler named Saeki Kazuma. Together, they scammed many people, including Takumi’s family.
Saeki and Harrison then got into an argument regarding money, leading to Harrison causing Saeki bodily harm and forcing him to flee the country.
A few years later, Harrison met Takumi, who impressed him by being unaffected by his threats and money. Seeing similarities between himself and Takumi, Harrison decided to make him a land swindler.
Later, Harrison discovered that Takumi’s family was one of his victims, but he never revealed the truth to Takumi, believing that becoming a land swindler was Takumi’s destiny.
Takumi goes on to work with Harrison as his right-hand man for five years. He proves his worth to Harrison, who trains him to become the best.
Eventually, Takumi discovers that Harrison is the man who scammed his father and turns against him. He tries to kill Harrison when he refuses to take responsibility for what happened to his family.
Takumi fails to kill him, and Kuramochi, Shimomura’s partner, fails to arrest him. Harrison manages to escape with all the money his group swindled and does not face the consequences of his actions.
