The ghosts: Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre characters explained

In Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre, with the help of three ghosts, Saro gets to live his life to the fullest. Biola Fowosere, Layi Wasabi, and Quadri Oyebamiji play the ghosts.

Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre begins with Saro in the afterlife, where he finds himself approaching the gates of Heaven, but he is not allowed to cross over.

Saro will only be allowed to go through the gates once he repays his debt to Akala, whose power he used to resurrect 20 people.

To settle the debt, Saro must return to Earth and end the lives of those 20 individuals, a task that will bind Saro to three ghosts.

Saro gains new companions

When Saro returns to the world of the living, he realizes that he is not visible to anyone, which means he can easily kill those 20 people.

Saro kills an artisan, a bridegroom, and a mother, all of whom he had resurrected when he had Akala’s power.

After killing them, Saro attempts to kill an old woman. The woman is blind, but she can see Saro, even though others cannot.

In exchange for sparing her life, the woman offers to help Saro. She tells Saro how to become a living wraith, and Saro does not kill her.

Saro follows the woman’s instructions and becomes visible to other humans. At the same time, he becomes aware of three ghosts who are now visible to him.

Saro realizes that these three ghosts are the individuals he had resurrected and then killed, and he alone can perceive them.

Helping Saro

The three ghosts rely on Saro to guide them to the other side; they cannot leave the realm of the living without him. Despite Saro’s past actions, the ghosts hold no grudge against him.

Instead, they provide him with food when he is hungry and encourage him to build his strength for their journey ahead.

However, Saro wishes to stay alive for some time, and the ghosts allow him to take care of his unfinished business.

They give him three years; thereafter, Saro must leave the world with them. The ghosts then help Saro live a fulfilling life.

They produce high-quality palm wine, which allows Saro to start a business of his own. In no time, Saro’s palm wine gains popularity among the townspeople.

Saro even marries and starts a family with his competitor’s daughter, despite the warnings from the ghosts to consider the consequences of his present actions.

Despite having everything he desires, Saro finds it impossible to lead a contented life, as the constant presence of the ghosts serves as a reminder of their agreement.

As Saro’s end draws close, the ghosts stop providing him with palm wine. This results in a decline in his business.

Saro is then kidnapped by Adigun and brought before Bashorun, who forces Saro to demonstrate his ability to resurrect the dead.

Saro no longer has the ability, so he pleads with the ghosts to help him. Despite everything, the ghosts come to his rescue once again.

A ghost possesses Prince Kuranga’s body

One of the ghosts possesses Kuranga’s body until he reaches Ede, creating the illusion of Kuranga’s resurrection. This leads to Bashorun taking the amulet that the gatekeeper gave Saro.

Soon after, Bashorun is killed, and as he is the one who possesses Saro’s amulet, it is his responsibility to take the ghosts across.

However, the ghosts have no faith in him. They have waited for three years to cross over, and now they may face an even longer wait.
