Doctors Gene and Jean Thibedeau are the founders of the ‘Keepers’ who believe that they are in the wrong timeline. Nick Offerman plays Gene and Megan Mullally plays Jean.
Gene and Jean Thibedeau are extremely interested in artifacts that show evidence of different timelines and are willing to kill for what they want.
They are the founders of the ‘Keepers’, a cult-like organization that has some residual memories from an alternate timeline and believes they are in the wrong one.
They also believe that something called “the cleanse” will fix everything and the key to that is a young girl named Jennifer.
Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are married to each other in real life.
Their sacred purpose
Five and Lila get a glimpse of Gene and Jean Thibedeau at a Keepers meeting and Five tries to learn more about the cleanse.
The next time they show up is when they t-bone their van outside New Grumpson and kidnap Jennifer.
They take her to their farm base and show her all the memorabilia they collected from bleeding timelines and the body of the giant squid that Jennifer came out of.
Jean talks about her alternate life where she was a teacher at Harvard and Gene was a MacArthur fellow.
They want to help Jennifer start the cleanse so that they can go back to better versions of their lives.
A wedge in the works
After Ben escapes with Jennifer, Gene, and Jean set up base at a King Reg location and mobilize some of their followers to search for Jennifer.
Sy Grossman shows up claiming to be from another chapter of the Keepers and says that he has some information on Jennifer’s location.
He turns up the charm on Jean, and Gene doesn’t enjoy that one bit. His jealousy takes hold as he forces a gun on Sy and tells him to leave.
Sy returns and this time he kills Gene, revealing that it is Abigail Hargreeves in disguise. Abigail takes Gene’s place by Jean’s side.
When Jennifer and Ben hole up in the abandoned mall, the Keepers stand outside as a barricade with Gene and Jean leading them.
Abigail cannot help but act herself when Reginald shows up, and Jean begins to doubt “Gene”.
She accuses “him” of being bought, so “Gene” kills Jean and claims that she was the one who chickened out.
