Gang Nam-In is one of the kids of Geum-Ju and Bong-Ho, and. He is a big young man, not only in terms of size but also in the emotional spectrum.
Big boy with a big heart
Gang Nam-In is a chubby charmer and he’s snacking on something or the other for the most part of his time on screen.
He loves eating food and it’s made pretty clear in the very first episodes. It is this penchant for eating that has driven a wedge between him and his mother Geum-Ju.
And while he might seem busy with his food most of the time, he is emotionally very giving. He has a great big heart and a lot of empathy to extend.

He loves his sister Nam-Soon and sheds tears heavily when he finally gets to reunite with her. There are many other instances where his kindness is displayed.
Beef with mum
Nam-In is really great friends with his father. However, the opposite is true when it comes to his mother, and for good reason too.
Of all the times their interaction has been shown, Geum-Ju is mostly panning her son for being fat, sometimes fully fat-shaming him. She also forces him to grind at the gym to lose the fat.
While as a mother she obviously has his best interests in mind, Geum-Ju has been rather bad when it comes to parenting etiquette.
Meanwhile, Nam-In also feels rather ignored and sidelined, compared to Nam-Soon, who’s been showered with endless love and attention ever since her reunion.

Triggered by experiences in general but also his own mother’s constant poking at him, Gang Nam-In chooses to resort to desperate measures.
A young lady one day approaches him with a pill she claims can help him overcome the issues he’s suffering from. He takes the pill and uses it, with the harmful side effects of it taking no time to surface.
