In Who is Erin Carter?, Erin’s affection for children stems from the experience she had as a child, which makes her want to be there for every other kid who is struggling in life.
When Erin was five years old, her mother left her alone at home and never came back. The local police picked her up, and she lived her life in a number of foster homes and youth custody centers.
She grew up to become a cop, but hitting a bully in her police academy class cost her the chance. Erin was down on her luck, and that’s when DI Jim Armstrong from CIO, Centralized Intelligence and Operations, approached her.
Jim sees her potential. He thinks she wouldn’t have made it as a cop, but she will make a great criminal. He hires her because he wants someone to infiltrate a gang the CIO plans to bust.
Erin’s time in Ramsey’s gang
Thomas Ramsey, whom the CIO believes is responsible for a number of high-profile robberies, runs the gang Erin infiltrates. Ramsey is being paid money from abroad for his next project.
Jim wants to know Ramsey’s plan and who is bankrolling him. Apart from that, Erin will not only infiltrate the gang, but she will also manipulate and use people to betray them.
During her time with Ramsey’s gang, Erin grows close to Lena and her daughter, Harper. Erin understands Lena’s condition and her struggles to provide for Harper.
Erin is asked not to lose focus, and she listens. However, she starts realizing that she is disposable to CIO when Jim doesn’t keep his promise to pull her out the moment things get dangerous.
This happens when Thomas Ramsey suspects there is a mole in their group. He confronts Erin, who doesn’t flicker, but Scotty, another new gang member, is killed when he shows fear on his face.
Jim refrains from getting Erin out as they don’t have the name of Ramsey’s bankroller yet. Erin listens to Jim and lets the heist take place as ordered. However, during the battle between Ramsey’s gang and CIO, Erin almost dies.
She somehow escapes the war with Harper after seeing Lena, Harper’s mother, get shot. This time around, Erin decides not to buy into Jim’s manipulation and leaves with Harper for Barcelona to start afresh.
Erin dedicates her life to trying to give Harper everything she couldn’t have as a child. As a teacher at the school, Erin shows the same amount of affection to students who are struggling in life.
