In My Life With the Walter Boys, Erin is Cole’s unofficial girlfriend. A realization leads to Erin changing her life and doing what she truly wants without letting others define her life. Alisha Newton plays Erin.
Although Cole does not date, it is common knowledge that he is with Erin. The two of them always go back to each other. Unlike Cole, Erin wants a committed relationship, but when Jackie moves to town, Cole starts liking her.
Erin feels threatened by Jackie, as it is evident to her that Cole likes her. Initially, Erin and Jackie do not get along, but after spending a whole day together, they develop a mutual understanding. Their conversation also helps Erin figure out what she needs in her life.
Rivals to friends
Erin is beautiful as well as smart. Apart from being a cheerleader, she is on the student council and the track team. Despite that, she keeps trying to impress Cole and her mother, who is extremely hard on her.
Erin’s mother is her coach as well, and she wants Erin to get a track scholarship. Erin is not very interested in becoming an athlete, but she still participates in track events because that is what her mother wants.
Jackie not only gets Cole’s attention but also becomes the first team leader of the track team, a position that was held by Erin. As a result, Erin grows insecure and starts disliking Jackie.
However, on Thanksgiving, Erin offers to join Jackie to deliver Thanksgiving meals. While delivering the meals, Jackie admits that she considers Erin to be pretty and smart. Jackie believes that Erin deserves more than just being another one of Cole’s girls.
Furthermore, Erin understands Jackie’s pain. Erin lost her father at a young age, so she knows what Jackie is going through. On a day that is hard for both of them, the two girls bond. Jackie even invites her to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Walters, as Erin’s mother does not like celebrating holidays.
New beginnings
When Alex reveals that Erin’s best friend, Olivia, hooked up with Cole, Erin is left heartbroken. This is where she draws the line. She decides to end her relationship with Cole as well as her friendship with Olivia.
All this time, she has only been doing what Cole and her mother want her to do. Erin realizes that her mother and Cole have never taken into consideration what Erin wants. She then decides to live her life on her own terms.
Erin auditions for the school play and is chosen to play the lead character. For the play, she even misses a track event that is attended by the scouts. This does not sit well with her mother, who wants her to focus solely on getting a track scholarship.
Erin’s mother keeps trying to pit her against Jackie to persuade her to give up on the play, but Erin does not change her mind. Eventually, her mother comes around. She comes to watch Erin’s play and even likes her performance.
Her mother also admits that she is only hard on Erin because she wants her to have better opportunities than she did. Erin then goes back to training with her mother. She also forgives Cole and Olivia when they apologize to her.
After ending things with Cole, Erin grows close to Danny while preparing for the school play. When Erin and Danny meet before Danny goes to New York for the summer, Erin asks him to stay in touch with her.
