Driss Arago: Furies (2024) character explained

Driss Arago is the antagonist in Furies (2024) and the father of Lyna. Mathieu Kassovitz plays Driss.

Lyna doesn’t find out about her parents, Driss and Kahina, until Selma tells her about their accident.

However, Selma’s confession turns out to be a lie. Orso reveals to Lyna that Driss schemed against the Olympus, and it’s obvious that the responsibility of taking Driss down fell upon the Fury.

Lyna confronts Selma about her parents and learns that Selma hasn’t killed her brother. She didn’t have the guts to finish the job. She has hidden him in a prison.

The killer

Lyna tracks down her father, who attempts to turn her against Selma. Driss tells her that the Guerrabs, Lyna’s fake parents, embezzled the Godfathers’ money and stole the Bible of the Six after hearing that Selma wants to reclaim Lyna as her heir.

They wanted to protect Lyna and give her a different future. Selma didn’t let that happen. However, Lyna sees through her father’s lies.

The prison she is in looks staged, and the person who is behind the Guerrabs’ deaths and plot against the Godfathers is also into mise-en-scènes.

Lyna holds Driss at gunpoint

Lyna figures out that her father is the killer they have been dealing with. Driss has somehow been escaping prison and carrying out his mission.

Driss’ mission

Initially, the Fixer assumes that Driss is just taking back what originally belonged to him. When the Fury took down Driss, the Olympus seized a number of businesses that were originally Driss’ ideas.

It is later that Lyna finds out that Driss is targeting the mine, an armored train that serves as a safe for the Olympus.

Driss plans to use the data center inside the mine that is connected to all police services to find his wife, Kahina.

Kahina was an undercover cop who not only infiltrated the underworld under the Fury’s nose but also escaped her wrath.

During her time as an undercover cop, she fell in love with Driss and got married to him. Upon finding out that Kahina has betrayed them, Driss hunted her down.

Driss massacred her whole family but was never able to find her. He plans to search for her using the mine.

The truth about Driss

Lyna and Selma successfully stop Driss. It’s Selma who finds where Driss is resting. Driss asks Selma to kill him, as he doesn’t want his daughter to live with his blood on her hands.

Before dying, Driss reminds Selma that she is the one who massacred Kahina’s family, not him. She couldn’t handle the fact that an undercover cop snooped into the underworld and even married her brother under her watch.

To hide her mistake, she painted her brother as the villain, but she couldn’t eliminate him back then. However, she still ruined his life. Selma kills Driss before Lyna can come any closer.

When Lyna asks about her father’s last words, Selma opts to lie and keep the truth from her.
