Donna Shaw: Carol & The End of The World character explained

Donna Shaw is Carol’s first friend at The Distraction in Carol & The End of The World. Kimberly Hebert Gregory voices the character.

Donna Shaw is the first to speak with Carol after she joins The Distraction, letting her know there was a cabinet filled with printer toner on an upper floor.

Carol takes this as an invitation to converse more and bakes some banana bread for Donna as an olive branch.

Carol dreams that Donna and she become best friends, but Donna is creeped out by how much Carol stares at her.

This does lead to them bonding over slices of banana bread, with Luis joining in eventually. Donna is a realist who prefers to do her work and leave without too much of a fuss.

Donna reluctantly volunteers her car to lug around David Seaver’s body and is usually the wet blanket who tries to temper Carol’s attempts to connect with the rest of the office.

Donna Shaw becomes close friends with Carol and Luis

A dedicated woman

Donna has 5 children and she talks about owning a business which took up most of her time.

When she celebrates Christmas with her family in April, she listens to all the stories that her children share and how she was barely around for them.

She tells herself that she worked all the time to provide a better life and future for her children, but she still has many regrets.

She apologizes to them but they comfort her saying that she doesn’t need to apologize to them because she did what was best for them.

While going through the lost and found, Donna spots one of her earrings and remembers how she hooked up with one of the other men in the office.

She was quite pragmatic when she first started talking to Carol and although she maintains much of that, her personality gets softer the more time she spends with her and Luis.
