In Destined with You, Jang Sin-yu was cursed in his past life by the woman he loved. The curse will not stop hurting him until he dies.
Sin-yu often feels the touch of a bloodied hand. When no one is around, the bloodied hand, known as the Red Hand, caresses him. The touch of the Red Hand is painful, and it even lands Sin-yu in hospital.
Sin-yu was also suffering from a vascular disease, which was incurable because it was a genetic disorder. He then made Hong-jo cast the spell that cures diseases, and his condition improved.
His incurable disease was cured, and he stopped seeing the Red Hand. However, when Hong-jo touches Sin-yu in the place where he used to feel the touch of the Red Hand, the Red Hand makes a reappearance in Sin-yu’s life.
A centuries-old curse
In his past life, Sin-yu was named Mu-jin. He passed the military service exam and served the king. At a young age, Mu-jin fell in love with a shaman named Aeng-cho, who was none other than Hong-jo.
When Aeng-cho grows up, she gets summoned to the palace by the king’s concubine. Aeng-cho is made to stay at the palace and do her bidding. She casts spells for the concubine, which helps her give birth to a son.
At the same time, rumors about the presence of an evil shaman in the palace spread everywhere. The concubine then forces Aeng-cho to do black magic and kill the crown prince, but Aeng-cho fails to do that. The crown prince dies anyway, and Aeng-cho is blamed for it.
When Aeng-cho holds the king accountable for the prince’s death, he tries to kill her, but Aeng-cho’s curse stops him. She curses the person who would kill her. She declares that her murderer would die a painful death, their descendants would not live long, and their family would perish.
The curse scares the king and his soldiers. As they cannot kill Aeng-cho, the king decides to seal her in a well. Mu-jin saves her, but they are pursued by the king’s soldiers as well as the concubine’s men, who want Aeng-cho’s spell book.
The king’s loyal man tells Mu-jin that Aeng-cho will be dismembered by animals, as the other soldiers are scared to kill her. Mu-jin is badly injured by their pursuers and knows that he will not be able to stop the king’s soldiers from taking Aeng-cho.

Mu-jin cannot bear the thought of Aeng-cho dying a painful death, so he decides to kill her then and there. Aeng-cho dies in his arms, but Mu-jin gets cursed. Even in his next life, he feels Aeng-cho’s bloodied hand caressing his cheek, the way Aeng-cho did before she died.
The curse breaks
The Red Hand keeps causing Sin-yu pain. When Hong-jo remembers her past life and comes to know that she was the one who cursed Sin-yu, she meets Eun-wol and asks her about breaking the curse.
Eun-wol tells her that Sin-yu would have been fine if he had not met Hong-jo. She also tells her that the curse will only break when Sin-yu dies. Due to the curse, people in Sin-yu’s family do not live long, and Sin-yu believes that he too might die soon.
Hong-jo distances herself from Sin-yu to protect him, but when she gets attacked by her stalker, Na Jung-beom, Sin-yu makes her stay with him. Na Jung-beom then stabs Sin-yu, who is rushed to the hospital.
There, Sin-yu’s heart stops beating, but the doctors manage to resuscitate him. As Sin-yu dies briefly, the curse breaks. Sin-yu no longer feels the touch of the Red Hand when Hong-jo touches him, which means he will not die a premature death and that he can be with Hong-jo now without worrying about the Red Hand.
