Chu Ai, an influencer, learns that love and sex are not as simple in real life as they may seem in theory. In Let’s Talk About CHU, Chan Tzu-hsuan plays Chu Ai.
Chu Ai is a sex-positive influencer. However, as her channel, Let’s Talk About Sex, has yet to gain popularity, she works part-time at a waxing salon.
Ai’s mother disapproves of Ai’s work; she does not like the fact that her daughter openly discusses sex, but Ai is not willing to pursue a different path.
Ai’s fear of abandonment
Ai believes that love and sex can be easily separated, and she does not shy away from expressing her opinions on the subject.
She is in a friends-with-benefits relationship with her friend, Ping-ke, but she has established a set of rules to prevent the risk of either of them falling in love.
Ai chooses not to have any romantic relationships because of a childhood incident. When she was young, her father left her sleeping in a car and went to a hostess club.
Ai woke up and went looking for her father. When she saw her father with another woman there, she thought that he was cheating on her mother.

Since then, Ai has been scared of falling in love and being abandoned. Ai has only ever had one boyfriend, Bonner.
When Ai’s parents fight on Lunar New Year, she asks Ping-ke to pretend to be her boyfriend and takes him home to diffuse the tension.
At that time, she does not realize that she has started developing feelings for him. Due to her fear of love, she keeps pushing him away whenever he shows care for her.
Accepting her feelings
Ai’s life is further complicated when Ai’s ex-boyfriend, Bonner, returns to Taiwan. Ai and Bonner broke up because Bonner had to leave the country after his parents’ divorce.
Ai and Bonner were so in love back then that Ai believes they would never have broken up if Bonner had not left the country.
Ai and Bonner still like each other a lot and try to rekindle their relationship, but Ai realizes it is not possible because she now has developed feelings for Ping-ke.
Ai’s father has not been home for a long time now, and Ai’s siblings ask her to find him and talk to him.
Ai sees her father with a woman and assumes that he is cheating on her mother again. Following that, an upset Ai ends up pushing Ping-ke away once again.
Ai then gets a chance to make an appearance on a talk show, Late Night With Kelly, which would help her gain exposure for her channel.

While her channel gains followers, Ai is grilled for her opinions and labeled “Love Impotent,” which makes Ai reflect on her fear of falling in love.
Ai later finds out that her father did not cheat on her mother; he was just trying to hide his financial problems from her.
Seeing her parents’ reconciliation makes Ai realize that they still love each other. Ai then decides to stop running from her own feelings.
She apologizes to Ping-ke and is forgiven. The two of them start dating and eventually decide to move in together.
