Choi Eun-Seo is Dr. Seung-Hi’s daughter in Doctor Cha, and also a school friend of the titular doctor’s daughter, I-Rang.
Dr. Seung-Hi lives a life full of risk as her affair with colleague and former lover remains a secret they work hard to keep from everyone.
However, her relationship with Dr. Seo In-Ho isn’t the only thing she’s kept a secret from others. The fifth episode sheds light on her daughter, Choi Eun-Seo, and the nature of her relation with In-Ho.
An almost estranged daughter
The story thus far has shown a clear rift between Seung-Hi and Choi Eun-Seo. While Seung-Hi tries to remain cheerful and loving for her daughter, Eun-Seo is often upset by her mother, even almost ashamed of her.
She thinks of Seung-Hi’s caring gestures sometimes as just a show she puts off while not actually having any time to spend with her.
She keeps the identity of her mother a secret, even from her close school friend I-Rang, who is surprised to see her mother for the first time when Seung-Hi comes to pick Eun-Seo one day.
Daughter of a man she can’t call dad
After flipping out during the ride home, Seung-Hi asks her daughter what’s wrong. Choi Eun-Seo asks her to find a man and marry him. Seung-Hi tells her she won’t marry and bring home a stepfather, to which Eun-Seo responds with anger, asking if he’s disallowed her from marrying anyone.

It’s quickly revealed that this “he” is being used for none other than Seo In-Ho, who Eun-Seo refuses to refer to as her dad. She further lashes out at Seung-Hi, insulting her by saying she’s a mistress of In-Ho and that she’s a daughter of a mistress.
She blames Seung-Hi for having sex with a married man and bringing her into the world, in the process getting disowned by her family and win her daughter’s hate. She deeply resents that she can’t call her biological father her dad and that her mother is still waiting on him to marry her.
A victim of parents’ lapses
Seung-Hi asks for her support, promising her that it’s just a bit more time until they can all be together. However, before that she tries to ask Eun-Seo to just imagine things not working out in her parents’ marriage which resulted in her father becoming estranged.
However, she can’t do that, and she’s tired of her mother being so naive and still waiting for In-Ho, who obviously won’t divorce his current wife and leave his family to be with them. She’s angered over her name being Choi Eun-Seo instead of Seo Eun-Seo.
She repeatedly curses and blames her mother and asks why she had birth her. Seung-Hi breaks out in tears and says she wanted to meet her and see her, which is why she birthed her, as Eun-Seo storms off. The two are shown to be in a real disarray of emotions and feelings as they can’t live happily as a family.
