Cho Hae-Dal: Welcome to Samdal-ri character explained

Cho Hae-Dal, played by Kang Mi-Na, is a major supporting character in the Korean rom-com, Welcome to Samdal-ri.

Cho Hae-Dal is the youngest of the three crazy sisters who are well-known in their hometown of Samdal-ri, Jeju Island.

Growing up, she has been the most mature of the three sisters, and known to others in the village as the tactful one.

The mature one

Cho Hae-Dal is different from her two older sisters Cho Jin-Dal and Cho Sam-Dal in that she seems the more normal one, comparatively speaking at least.

It is made quickly evident why that is. She is a mother to Cha Ha-Yul, her little daughter who’s wise beyond her years and even more mature than her mother.

Hae-Dal looks like a young girl herself, and it’s a surprise to others to see her be a mother to a daughter already. This is because she married quite young before she met a tragedy.

The single mother

When Sam-Dal’s fake allegation controversy makes rounds in the media, there are tabloid articles all around that target her family as well, including Jin-Dal and Hae-Dal, who are described as a young and unmarried mother.

However, that’s not true. She had moved to Seoul when she was twenty years old. She fell in love and it eventually resulted in the birth of Cha Ha-Yul.

Before Ha-Yul’s birth, though, Hae-Dal’s husband died in a car accident. Many people in Samdal-ri pity Cha Ha-Yul and her mother for this very reason, which upsets the daughter.
