In Blood Coast, Captain Miranda is an officer from the Internal Affairs department of the local Marseille police. He is constantly trying to take down Lyès and his team. Diouc Koma plays Miranda.
Miranda first appears when he crosses paths with Alice Vidal, who has just transferred to Marseille. Miranda and Alice have worked together in the past. Miranda claims that he is here to clean up the mess and bring some order.
Miranda’s mission
Miranda has the utmost respect for the job of a police officer. He says their role is to enforce and save people. If the cops are enforcing, they also need to keep themselves in check.
Miranda is protecting the image of the police. Officers like Lyès in Marseille are ruining it by having relations with drug lords such as Ali Saïdi. Miranda has had enough of Lyès and his pack of nutcases, and he is willing to go to extreme lengths to take them down.
Does Miranda succeed?
Miranda first tries to get his former colleague, Alice, on his side. However, she denies going against her new team. When it becomes difficult for Miranda to bring Lyès down, he starts targeting his team members.
Miranda follows Arno and finds out that he is having an affair at a time when his wife is sick and fighting a battle. Meanwhile, Tatoo gives Miranda something to use against him by beating up a thug who was exploiting kids like Bakari.
Miranda uses all of this against Arno and Tatoo to make them turn on Lyès. Arno tells Lyès about this. Lyès understands the position Arno is in, and he agrees to give him a confession. He only wants Arno to hand it to Miranda once they have caught Murillo.
Arno gives Miranda the recording of Lyès’s confession, but after putting up a fight. The recording mentions the deals Lyès and Ali have made. However, when Miranda presents it to the District Attorney, the DA decides to protect Ali to ensure the well-being of Marseille.
The DA wants Ali to remain free as a part of an investigation that doesn’t concern Miranda. Miranda is instead asked to arrest Lyès only.
A lawyer named Mr. Jaborska, from whom Lyès’ team stole a case file on Perreto earlier, joins hands with Perreto to report a series of major infringements by Lyès, giving Miranda a different reason to arrest Lyès.
