Caitlyn Spies, a crime reporter, investigates Tytus Broz’s crimes with Eli. In Boy Swallows Universe, Sophie Wilde plays Caitlyn Spies.
Since his teenage years, Eli has had a crush on Caitlyn Spies, a journalist who works for the local newspaper, the Courier-Mail.
Eli first meets her when he decides to get the media involved in his attempts to save Lyle from Kroll and expose what Kroll did to his family. The meeting leaves Eli starstruck.
Caitlyn’s relentless pursuit of answers
When Eli comes to meet Caitlyn, she is investigating a body part found on the beach, which turns out to be Lyle’s.
Despite his young age, Caitlyn takes Eli seriously and is ready to hear his story.
When she mentions the case she is handling, Eli realizes that Lyle has been murdered and leaves without telling Caitlyn much.
Caitlyn comes to the conclusion that Eli knows something about Lyle’s murder and tracks him down to talk to him.
However, Eli refuses to get involved, and Caitlyn respects his wishes. Caitlyn also tries but fails to get information from Detective Tim Cotton, who likes her.
When Caitlyn was eight, her mother passed away, which left Caitlyn with a lot of questions. Due to that, Caitlyn has the urge to get to the bottom of things.
Four years later, when Eli is trying to get a job at the Courier-Mail, he runs into Caitlyn, who still wants to know what happened to Lyle all those years ago.
Bringing Broz’s crimes to light
Caitlyn asks Eli about Lyle’s murderer. Eli does not want to bring up the past, as his mother has just come out of prison, but Caitlyn thinks that it is nice to create trouble at times.
Eli then tells her to meet Bich Dang, and Caitlyn agrees to keep his name out of it. She also advises Eli to write something so good that it will get him the job he wants.
Caitlyn and Eli benefit from each other’s advice. Bich Dang tells Caitlyn that her life is at risk, but Caitlyn thinks that she is just paranoid.
However, a few days later, she finds out that Bich Dang has died. On top of that, her lawyer sends Caitlyn information about cash movements from Tytus Broz’s bank account.
The records prove that Bich Dang was doing business with Broz. Caitlyn shares her findings with Eli, and the two start investigating together.
Caitlyn is not afraid to go against dangerous people or defy her boss for a scoop. She breaks into Broz’s research facility with Eli.
The two of them are attacked by Kroll, but they manage to get away and expose Broz and Kroll. At the end of the ordeal, Caitlyn is unharmed, but Eli gets stabbed by Kroll.
Despite earlier shutting down Eli’s attempts to ask her out, Caitlyn waits for Eli to wake up in the hospital, as she reciprocates his feelings.
Caitlyn and Eli’s work leads to Eli’s promotion. They not only start dating but also become partners at work.
