Bong Ye-Bun is the main protagonist of Netflix’s Behind Your Touch.
Bong Ye-Bun’s life up until the point of gaining supernatural powers hasn’t exactly been all happy and stress-free.
She lost her father when she was in elementary school, and then her mother to suicide when she was a high schooler. She went to live with her auntie and grandfather who opposed her parents’ marriage.
Years of trying to win over her grandpa’s heart, she has failed to do so as the grumpy old man doesn’t even speak to her. Meanwhile, she has a whole variety of new struggles and troubles to contend with.
Vet excellence
Bong Ye-Bun was an exceptional student during her young days. It’s a big trait of hers that’s unveiled pretty quickly in the show.
She excels in her studies and tops the vet school exam, getting selected in a jiffy.
It’s her great academic aptitude that makes Ok-Hui have doubts about their compatibility at first since she’s not a good student at all.
Ye-Bun, meanwhile, finishes her vet school and after graduation, takes over her grandpa’s animal hospital. She later remodels the hospital and focuses on popular pets.
Bong Ye-Bun’s hospital & debts
In doing all the remodeling and redecorating of her grandpa’s animal hospital, she racks up a lot of debt.
It’s when she confesses to Mr. Park, the con shaman, that it’s revealed that she took a big loan for the redecorating and funds have been low ever since.
She even shifted the hospital’s focus towards pet cats and dogs, but even that didn’t turn in any fiscal profit.
She struggles economically and it’s also implied that she might have been lousy with the rent a couple of times in the past as well.
Psychic
Her troubles seem to be never-ending, and when an astray meteor from a meteor shower hits her, it gives her psychic powers that she can use to take a peek into the animals’ memories when she touches their butts.
She tries to do the same with humans but instead of visions, she gets cuffs on her hands for being a pervert. However, she inadvertently gets a vision by touching a human’s butt once, and later on confirms it.
The man whose cow she was diagnosing when the meteor gave her powers, also received similar powers. She later meets him to find out that his powers activate when he touches the legs of animals and humans.
However, to her shock, she also learns that using the powers has led to the man losing his hair at a concerning rate. Bong Ye-Bun fears for her hair, but so far, she hasn’t had any hair loss.
Her powers have turned in great profits for the business, as more and more pet owners visit her for her accurate diagnoses. Meanwhile, she’s also able to peek into humans’ memories, and this way, she often ends up seeing a shocking vision she wasn’t supposed to see for her safety.
