Black Noir has been a key part of The Seven since the beginning of The Boys series and now the silent but deadly supe has finally met his end.
Black Noir was considered one of the most powerful supes in the world with his heightened strength and reflexes. He was able to adequately defend himself against Homelander when they were out on their first mission together but wasn’t up to the level of Soldier Boy.
Homelander thought of Noir as one of his closest allies but with the reappearance of Soldier Boy, Noir began to fear for his life due to his role in Payback’s betrayal.
It was only once he let his guard down that Homelander struck the final blow but why exactly did he make that decision?
Black Noir’s past
Black Noir hated Soldier Boy with a passion after all the abuse that he faced and he’s the reason Noir suffered severe brain damage and was left mute.
When he reappeared, Noir’s first instinct was to run away and hide but after being convinced by his imaginary cartoon friends to confront his past and stand up to his bully, he returns to Vought tower.
Keeping a costly secret
Upon his return, he lets Homelander know that they must kill Soldier Boy together. By then Soldier Boy had already told Homelander the truth about his parentage and Homelander began to have doubts about the plan.
He walks in as Noir is sharpening his sword and tells him it will be worthless against his old teammate. He then asks Noir how Soldier Boy was as a person since he knew him for many years.
Noir insists that he’s a bad man who deserves to be killed but Homelander is not so sure. Homelander says that he can see through Noir’s mask and can tell what he’s feeling and whether he’s lying at any point.
He then asks Noir if he knew that Soldier Boy was his father and kept that information from him and when Noir nods his head in the affirmative, Homelander punches a hole through his midsection. He almost felt regret while doing it, evidenced by the fact that he was in tears just before killing him.
Black Noir’s fate in the comics
Black Noir was one of the key elements of the comic series and his death was much more brutal and significant. Noir was actually an identical clone of Homelander created by Vought specifically as a safety if the original Homelander goes rogue.
After many years of not being able to do what he was created for, Noir goes insane and begins committing crimes as Homelander which leads to the original losing his mind a little and eventually deciding to take over the US government.
He was the one who actually raped Becky and when he admits to his crimes in the oval office, Butcher goes ahead and gets his revenge by ripping his head open with a crowbar after raining down on him with a hail of bullets.
