Benício is one of the main characters in Netflix’s crime drama series, Criminal Code. The character is played by Rômula Braga.
Criminal Code sees the Federal Police of Brazil crack the code on the modus operandi of multiple cross-border criminal gangs involved in drug trafficking and robberies.
The police station in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, leads this investigation, and one of their rogue and unruly officers, Benício proves to be an instrumental force against the formidable and elusive gangs.
Motivated by vengeance
A team of highly proficient robbers from different gangs pulls off a great heist at an insurance company in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. Before that, many of these members were freed by the gang in a mass prison break.
During this mass prison break, Federal police officer Benício’s long-time partner and friend Santos was killed.

When Benício learns that the man who killed Santos might have been a part of the robbery, he itches to get his hands on the gangster.
He is driven by his revenge and would go to any lengths, including tactics well outside his authority and against his orders, to grab Soulless — the alias that Santos’ killer goes by. To contain his rogue tendencies, he’s partnered up with Officer Suellen.
Work & love life
Benício’s love life is a mess, just like his relationships with his family, which is pretty much estranged from him entirely. He used to be married and also had a son from it.
However, his obsession with work and having no time for the family led to divorce, and his ex-wife is shown to bear a strong, visible dislike for him.
The same can be said for his son, who walks away from him when the police officer finally decides to go check up on him and give him a gift.
It seems that family is just not meant for him, as he is still very much married to his work, and this marriage is akin to his failed one — toxic. However, it’s not like he’s bereft of intimacy or hookups.
In fact, Benício is pretty active for a police officer obsessed and occupied with work, on top of being dangerously driven by his quest for revenge.
Throughout Criminal Code, he hooks up with two people — his superior Vendramin, and Suellen’s younger sister, Suelly.
