Beelzebub/Devilcat: Exploding Kittens character explained

Beelzebub, the daughter of Satan, comes to Earth as Devilcat to become more evil. In Exploding Kittens, Sasheer Zamata voices Beelzebub.

As the daughter of Satan, Beelzebub is the CEO of Hell, but she has not been able to live up to her late father’s name. Beelzebub is not truly evil, so she is not good at her job.

To rectify the situation, the board of directors of Hell, inspired by the board of Heaven’s treatment of God, decides to send her to Earth to make her more evil.

Beelzebub has always lived in her father’s shadow, and even after being sent to Earth, she continues trying to impress the board to remain the CEO and carry forward his legacy.

Devilcat’s relationship with Godcat

Beelzebub lives on Earth as Devilcat at the house of the Higgins family’s neighbor, Karen, which means that she is Godcat’s neighbor.

While Godcat has to become empathetic and help the Higgins reconnect, Devilcat must learn to be evil, which makes them rivals.

Despite their rivalry, the two of them get along. At times, they even forget that they are enemies and help each other out.

Even when Devilcat tries to cause problems for the Higgins family or drive them astray, she and Godcat continue to grow close.

Devilcat then asks Godcat to accompany her to her cousin’s wedding in Hell as her plus-one to put the rumors about her lack of a love life to rest.

The two of them attend the wedding in their original form. God has only agreed to be her date because he wants to discover the root of all evil.

However, instead of sneaking into Satan’s office, God defends Beelzebub, who is not respected by anyone in Hell, and assures her that she is good at her job.

God can relate to Beelzebub’s struggles, as he knows how hard it is to be alone at the top. Their date goes well, and they end up sleeping together.

Devilcat’s struggles to become her own devil

On the day of the wedding, Beelzebub also discovers that her mother is a human named Shirley and that Beelzebub herself is half-human.

Exploding Kittens Devilcat
Beelzebub finds out that her mother is a human

She pays her mother a visit in her cat form and discovers that her mother used to lead the congregation until she was forced out by a pastor named James.

Devilcat tries to help her mother by possessing Pastor James, but she fails, leading to her doubting herself again.

It is then that her mother tells her that even someone as great as her father used to make mistakes when he first got hired.

Devilcat eventually manages to get rid of Pastor James, reinforcing her mother’s belief that she will become the greatest devil ever.

Devilcat then finds out that Heaven and Hell are merging. The boards of the two firms did not want her and Godcat to find out about the merger, which is part of the reason they were sent to Earth.

Now that Devilcat knows, she is able to get her name on the list of potential CEOs and decides to solve the problems at SeaWorld to impress the board members.

Godcat helps her, unaware of the merger. In the end, it is Devilcat who brings the problems at SeaWorld under control, proving that she has finally become terrifying.

When Godcat finds out about the merger, he feels betrayed about Devilcat taking advantage of his newfound compassion. The two of them go back to being rivals.

They then participate in the God Games, the winner of which will become the CEO of the new firm. During the games, Devilcat finds out that she is pregnant with Godcat’s baby.

Devilcat, who had been performing very well until then, is thrown off her game, and it is Godcat who wins, becoming the CEO of the new firm.

However, when Godcat refuses to annihilate the human race as per the board’s wishes, Devilcat is offered the position.

Devilcat, who has been living with humans all this while, also decides not to annihilate them. Instead of impressing the board members, she kills them, no longer willing to live in her father’s shadow.

Godcat then finds out about Devilcat’s pregnancy and returns to Earth with her. With Abbie’s help, Devilcat gives birth to several kittens, some good and some evil.
