He’s a policeman who has to swallow his pride and tolerate humiliation because he messed with Shukla during a moment of ignorance.

Temple of doom

Baankeylal Pandey was working his shift at the temple during a rush when Shukla began climbing the stairs, disregarding the queue of civilians who had been waiting their turn for so long.

Baankey doesn’t know who Shukla is and so he responds to the politician’s nonchalant climb up the stairs with a complete disregard for his position, physically pushing him down the stairs.

Humiliation & vengeance

Shukla keeps it inside him and plans on taking his revenge. Some time passes and while Baankey has forgotten what he did at the temple for one, Shukla hasn’t.

The revenge entails Shukla getting Baankey’s superior to beat him up in front of all the people at the bar. They all record and see as Baankey’s self-esteem takes a plunge further and further.

Baakey swallows his pride as a flame of revenge burns alive. Along with JP and his best friend since childhood, Yakub Ansari, Baankey brews up a great plan for revenge.
