Asanda: Blood & Water season 4 character explained

Asanda Makeba is a newcomer at Parkhurst High who quickly takes a liking to Wade Daniels, and the attraction is very much mutual. Wanda Banda plays the character in Blood & Water season 4.

Asanda Makeba and Wade Daniels meet at Chris’s party.

He collides with her, messing up her clothes in the process, but the very first exchange of looks between the two carries a hint of attraction.

The two properly talk to each other shortly and he confesses that he’s a fan of her parents’ talk show.

The attraction’s mutual

She also reveals that she’s a fan of him too, as she’s into photography as well and considers his work visceral.

This disarms Wade more, and she soon begins taking photos of him with her vintage camera. Sparks fly and the two run into each other often at the school.

They also stumble upon each other at the photography studio at the school, where Wade frequently goes to develop his negatives.

The two start getting more flirtatious with each other, even though Asanda does most of it among the two.

Asanda at heart

Her company at the school initially forces her to act like a mean girl.

At heart, she’s a kind and compassionate person.

She even puts aside her ego to apologize to Fiks and ask for her help in swimming when Wade asks her to.

At the swimming gala, she ends up acing the competition, defeating Fiks to become the new champion.

Later in the season, she sticks by Wade’s side and tags along even through perilous situations involving kidnapping, police pull-overs, and a hostage situation.

The hurdles

A speed breaker in their romance story is Puleng, whom Wade has to help out frequently, as is usual for him.

This makes Makeba a little jealous of her and when he stands her up at KB’s concert at the club for a while before finally arriving, she’s already gone.

She is upset but he manages to convince her that he’ll be more careful with his time.

The two resume their dating but one thing keeps bugging him, which is that whenever Asanda is with her friends, she starts distancing herself from him.

Her friends are a bunch of mean girls who keep calling Wade a loser for what his mom did as a principal of Parkhurst in the past.

Meanwhile, Asanda has parents who are totally the opposite in real life, of what they appear to be on their chat show.

Her mother is a fiercely elitist woman who expects her daughter to do nothing other than excel at whatever she does.

Asanda is a competitive swimmer and she can’t sully her family’s reputation by getting results that don’t contain a top rank.

Overcoming hurdles for love

This has given her some issues to contend with when it comes to her own psyche. She tussles with the love she has for Wade versus the image she has to uphold because of her family.

Wade stops talking to her and gives her a cold shoulder when she only approaches him when she’s not with her friends.

When he suggests that maybe they should consider breaking up their relationship if she’s so ashamed of him, she gathers up the courage to finally confess her love for Wade openly.

While her friends think it too embarrassing to stick around for, Asanda climbs the table in the garden and tells everyone she likes Wade.

The two kiss and make up, and begin dating again. Before Blood & Boots season 4 ends, the two have almost had sex but hold back as they both are not ready for that yet.
