Pluto deals with heavy themes and messages, as well as delves into political commentary through robots that are powered by artificial intelligence.
The world of Pluto is one where humans and robots coexist. There are a variety of robots, those who are the more regular kind, and then there are those who are powered by artificial intelligence.
Among these, humanity has produced seven most advanced AI robots of all time, each capable of mass destruction.
An important thing to note is that these seven robots don’t all wield such advanced AI and capabilities, but they’re the only ones that the world at large is well aware of.
Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc is a legendary Swiss mountain guide robot. He was loved by people all around the world.
He had a deep care for the environment and wildlife and even said to never make a statue of him after his death, and instead use his parts for the betterment of the environment.
He was also loved by all humans who worked with him and there’s a grand mourning after his death at the hands of a serial killer robot.
Brando
Brando is an advanced AI robot with a courageous heart. He’s a Turkish wrestling robot who is a champion like Hercules, and their fight is one of the most anticipated ones that never gets to see the light of the day, thanks to Brando’s death at the hands of Pluto.
He has a family of five kids and a wife, and as he walks out to fight Pluto, as the battle is inevitable, he lies to his wife about some meeting, again cementing the fact that AI robots can lie, for various different ends.
Brando gives a decent fight to Pluto before he’s defeated and dropped into the ocean. As he plunges deeper and deeper, he sends some of the most crucial footage of the killer robot to his AI robot peers.
Hercules
Hercules is another of the wrestling robots. He’s actually a gladiator who abides by a code of honor and he’s a great rival and old friend to Brando.
He never gets to fight him and he regrets it, before finally gearing up to engage in the inevitable battle with the robot coming to kill him.
As a pacifist AI robot, Epsilon offers a helping hand in the fight, but Hercules denies it, wanting to fight him alone. The victory goes to Pluto yet again.
North #2
North #2 was once a terrifying power on the battlefield, and he had killed thousands upon thousands of AI robots in the 39th Central Asian War.
He has nightmares of the death toll during those dark times and now wants nothing more than to live a life of peace and quiet.
He works as a butler to Paul Duncan, a legendary music composer who has grown jaded and creatively defunct with old age.
North #2 helps the blind old man learn the truth about her mother, whom he always hated for falsely believing that she left him as a child to marry a wealthy man.
North #2 also helps Paul Duncan finish a melody he can’t for years now, one that’s really close to his heart and reminds him of his childhood days.
North #2 learns piano from the old man too, and plays it for him moments before he’s killed in the sky by Pluto.
Uran
Uran is one of the most, if not the most, empathetic of all the AI robots. She can sense sorrow from miles away.
However, it’s not that ability that makes her so peerless, it’s her unrelenting desire to do something about it, which is so intense that she would be compelled to run towards the source of the signals of sorrow and help them.
Uran even helps Sahad, the AI robot who was eventually turned into Pluto, by showing him what he originally wanted to do with his life. She also helps a young boy from giving up his life by suicide.
Atom
Atom was the peace ambassador during the 39th Central Asian War, so he didn’t participate in the battle. He is also the world’s leading AI robot in terms of artificial intelligence and sensors.
However, his creator Dr. Tenma thinks he’s a failure because he thinks a perfect AI robot would be able to hate. When Atom dies in his first battle with Pluto, Dr. Tenma returns to revive him.
He uses the same method to revive him as he once used to create none other than Goji/Dr. Abullah — the AI robot who would eventually create Pluto.
Atom is revived with a heightened sense of purpose and also a strong hatred. However, he is the best because he manages to overcome it.
He uses the memories of his dead AI robot friends and ultimately takes on Pluto, offering an equal match-up and successfully helping him overcome his hatred.
Atom then gives him the anti-proton equation he was able to work out pretty quickly, to use it to stop Bora, a giant robot hell-bent on destroying the whole world.
Epsilon
Epsilon is a peace-keeping and peace-loving AI robot and perhaps the most formidable of them all, especially up against Pluto.
He never participated in the 39th Central Asian War and received staggering amounts of flak for it. However, he didn’t care for any of it as he had his pacifist values to uphold.
A truly peerless robot, he dedicated his life to caring for orphaned children affected by war. He is a parent to dozens of such children who love him dearly. He even goes to great lengths to save one of them, taking on the killer robot in an intense battle.
He fights him with a flurry of disadvantages and a child to worry about mid-battle. He deploys his arms to protect the kid and a government agent robot helping the kid, by creating a photon barrier around them.
Even with all these disadvantages stacked against him, he puts up a great fight and actually comes closest to ending Pluto two times.
Gesicht
Gesicht is Europol’s finest detective AI robot and he’s also a formidable robot in terms of the frame he works with. He has a body made of Zeroniun alloy and he also wields a mighty gun in his right hand that can take out tanks.
He is also one of the more advanced robots as he can lie too, as well as hate, so much so that he actually kills a human who carried out a killing spree targeting robot children, including Gesicht’s son Robito.
Gesicht is instrumental in tracking down Pluto and it is his investigations that ultimately help the world have a chance against the carnage that the killer robot and his creator are about to wreak on the planet.
He is also not killed by the killer robot, thanks to his formidable body, but he’s ultimately killed by an anti-Zeronium shell, only because the child robot programmed to kill him distracts him by reminding him about his dead son.
