In Sex Education season 4, Aisha is a student at Cavendish College who is deaf and relies on reading people’s lips. Alexandra James plays Aisha.
Aisha is introduced as part of the Coven, a group that also consists of Abbi and her boyfriend, Roman. Aisha, Abbi, and Roman together run Cavendish College. Everything revolves around them, and every decision they make matters a lot to the students there.
Aisha is, in particular, bubbly and loves gossiping. However, gossiping is something that the Coven stands against. Hence, whenever the Coven accidentally gossips, they drop money in the gossip jar. This money goes to charity.
Aisha is an Aries and is also into astrology. She can prepare a full chart of a person if she gets all the information she needs. Aisha is in a non-monogamous relationship with her partner, PK. Hence, when she starts coming close to Cal, she asks them out, and they date for a while.
Aisha and the students at Cavendish College later support Cal by raising money for Cal’s top surgery.
Aisha stands up for those like her
Though Aisha has a disability, she hates making a fuss whenever she faces a challenge or if someone forgets about her. She adjusts at times because if she does ask for what she wants, she will keep having awkward arguments with non-disabled people all her life.
In the seventh episode of Sex Education season 4, Isaac revolts against the authority of Cavendish College for not fixing the lift for him, who can’t walk, despite being asked several times, by taking the college hostage. Aisha shows her support.
The fire alarm had rung, and no one cared to inform Aisha about it. She didn’t realize that everyone was emptying the room until she got her eyes off the paper.
This experience made her feel like an afterthought, and she believed many people like her are thought of the same way by non-disabled people. Aisha has been facing struggles because of the lack of access since she was a kid.
The whole school joins Isaac and protests until the lift gets fixed. Later, Aisha’s friends support her by starting to learn sign language.
Aisha also stands up to Abbi, who constantly pressures them to be positive. O makes Abbi realize that constant positivity can be toxic too, and Abbi learns to have difficult conversations with her friends, as sharing some negative thoughts can avoid the burden that will build up later. With that, Aisha is allowed to gossip.
