In Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, Rani marries Abhimanyu Bharadwaj, played by Sunny Kaushal, to convince the police of Rishu’s death.
Rani and Rishu move to Agra, but the police continue to investigate them there. With Montu on the case, it becomes nearly impossible for them to communicate.
Rani devises a plan: she decides to marry a compounder named Abhimanyu to convince Montu, who is determined to find Rishu, that Rishu is dead and that she is moving on.
The facade of a harmless man
Abhimanyu, a seemingly amiable and harmless man, was lonely and depressed until he met Rani. He had considered taking his own life but dropped the idea after meeting her.
Abhimanyu falls in love with Rani at first sight. Believing that Rani is a widow, he asks her out on a date. Even when Rani forgets about the date and stands him up, Abhimanyu does not give up.
He continues pursuing her, hoping to win her heart. Ignoring Rishu’s advice, Rani decides to marry Abhimanyu to throw the police off her trail.
She asks Abhimanyu to marry her but does not reveal her true reasons. However, she makes it clear that it will be a marriage of convenience and that she will not love him.
Abhimanyu, besotted with Rani, still agrees. He allows Rani to set the pace of their relationship, which makes Rani feel worse about betraying someone as considerate as him.
One night, Rani gets drunk and confesses the truth to Abhimanyu, who then reveals his true colors. It turns out that Abhimanyu, who is not as harmless as he seems, never forgives those who deceive him.
A cold-hearted killer
Like Rani, Abhimanyu, who is later revealed to be Dinesh Pandit’s son, took inspiration from the writer’s novels to get away with murder.
Abhimanyu’s parents passed away when he was seven. He lived with his uncle’s family after their deaths—the same uncle who deceived Abhimanyu’s father to take over his business.
Years later, to get revenge on his uncle, Abhimanyu asked a man named Lallan to bring a snake, which he used to kill his uncle’s family. He was never suspected, but Lallan has been blackmailing him ever since.
After Rani confesses the truth, Abhimanyu decides to help Rani and Rishu for Rani’s sake. He allows Rishu to hide at his workplace, where Rishu meets Lallan and discovers Abhimanyu’s crime.
Recognizing Lallan as a threat, Abhimanyu murders him and Poonam, who had been blackmailing Rishu, and disposes of their bodies.
Abhimanyu then convinces Rishu and Rani to agree to his plan of faking their deaths, showing no hesitation in crossing lines to ensure the plan’s success.
When the three of them jump into the river to fake their deaths, Abhimanyu deliberately puts Rishu in harm’s way to kill him.
Believing he has successfully killed Rishu and can now win Rani’s love, Abhimanyu starts a new life with her in Deosar.
However, Abhimanyu never gets the happy ending he desired, as Rani discovers the truth about Rishu’s death. Abhimanyu is now exposed as a cold-hearted killer.
Rishu and Rani then outsmart both Abhimanyu and the police, but not before ensuring that Abhimanyu is arrested for his crimes.
