WandaVision first look: Marvel taking confusing approach for Disney+ show

Marvel Studios’ boss Kevin Feige has revealed the first look of WandaVision at CCXP 2019 and there is still nothing but confusion. It is a black and white image of the happy couple sharing a laugh in what seems to be the 1950s (as hinted by Olsen herself). This is an entirely different tone to the MCU as we know it.

Marvel surprised the entire fandom with the announcement of a number of original shows for Disney Plus earlier this year. However, one of the most intriguing ones among the lot was WandaVision.

Considering Vision spoiler alert stayed dead after the events of Avengers Endgame, fans have been wondering how this possible love story between Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision is going to take place.

At Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel in July, it was mentioned that this series would tie into the Doctor Strange sequel, In the Multiverse of Madness. The existence of a multiverse could be an explanation for the events of WandaVision which has been hailed as “The oddest of all Marvel Projects.”

Furthermore, this could be an adaptation of The Vision comics by Tom King in which the Vision tries to build a family of androids in a vintage suburban household. A classic television show style poster was also released fuelling the theory:

Another important detail Feige mentioned is that Wanda will finally attain the name Scarlet Witch in the series which she has never been referred to as in the films. The events of this show will have great consequences on MCU’s phase 4 which begins with the Black Widow film.

WandaVision will run for 6 episodes which will be released in 2021 on Disney Plus. It also stars Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park, and Kathryn Hahn.
