The popular thriller-drama, You and the infamous Joe Goldberg are back with a teaser for season 2. The show’s second season will premiere on Netflix globally on November 26, just in time for some holiday entertainment.
In the teaser, Gossip Girls alum Penn Badgley, as Joe Goldberg, returns as everyone’s ‘favourite stalker’. In efforts to run away from his past and its incriminating troubles, Joe moves to Los Angeles as the city of choice for his next lover-victim, who will be played by Jenna Ortega.
The teaser features him talking about the L.A. culture: “That’s the thing about L.A. Everyone is pretending to be somebody they’re not,” he says, proceeding to call himself “Will” instead of Joe.
In the previous teaser we got quick glimpses at his new “special friend”, Love Quinn played by Victoria Pedretti, along with a few other supporting characters. The first season of You is based on the book by Caroline Kepnes and the second season will be based on the sequel, Kepnes’ Hidden Bodies.
There are reported to be new faces in the second season such as Ambyr Childers, the actress who plays Candace and has been promoted to series regular. Comedian Chris D’Elia will play a comic named Henderson; Carmela Zumbado, Adwin Brown, James Scully, Jenna Ortega, Melanie Field and Magda Apanowicz will also be joining the cast.
Talking about the latest season, Badgley has said in an interview to Entertainment Tonight that: “There’s a revisitation of that with Joe in the second episode of the second season, where you get to see a bit more of the hard reality of what he did to Beck.”
The showrunner Sera Gamble, too, allowed the viewers a sneak peek of Joe: “Moving the show to Los Angeles brought out a whole different side of Joe Goldberg. At least one scene comes to mind that’s gorier and scarier than anything we had in season one. You will know it when you see it.”
