The Haunting of Hill House season 2 to be more visceral

When Netflix released The Haunting of Hill House in 2018, it was one of the most terrifying horror experiences according to viewers. Everything about the show was on point and It took a lot of courage to get through those 10 episodes.

Season 1 focused on the dysfunctional Crain family and how moving into the infamous Hill House had a major impact on their personal and professional lives.

The horrors within that house led to the Crain children losing their mother at a young age and face serious repercussions in life on both real and supernatural levels.

Now, creator Mike Flanagan has revealed that season 2 is almost finished filming and “it’s a lot more frightening, just on a visceral level”.

Titled “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the second season will be inspired from Henry James’ horror novella, “The Turn of the Screw“. However, Flanagan also revealed that Bly Manor will take inspiration from James’ other works as well to create a truly bone-chilling experience for the audience.

“I think of Turning of the Screw as the backbone of this season – the through line that carries us from beginning to end. But we get to go off into The Jolly Corner and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes, and so many other of these wonderful ghost stories that people haven’t seen adapted before.

“It’s all wrapped up in what seems to be familiar, but that familiarity goes away really early in the first episode. It says, ‘We’re off on a whole other road.'” said Flanagan while speaking to Entertainment Weekly.

Victoria Pedretti, who came into the limelight for playing Eleanor “Nell” Crain in The Haunting of Hill House will return. She’ll play a governess named Dani who cares for two orphans in a house that may be haunted.

A lot of the other cast from season 1 will also be returning for the second coming including Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel and Henry Thomas. Since season 2 is not a continuation, they will be playing new characters.

The official release date is still unknown, however, The Haunting of Bly Manor is going to premiere sometime in 2020. One thing is for sure, it is not going to be a pleasant watch.
