Netflix has revealed the first look for its new release The King based on King Henry V’s journey to becoming part of the monarchy.
Call Me By Your Name‘s renowned star Timothée Chalamet is all set to play the lead in the movie. The film also stars Twilight’s lead Robert Pattinson as Louis and Sir John Falstaff as the Dauphin of Viennois.
Chalamet plays young Prince Hal, who inherits the crown after his father’s death.
Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp will also be seen as Catherine of Valois along with Ben Mendelsohn as King Henry IV (Chalamet’s father), Sean Harris as Michael Williams and Thomasin McKenzie as Philippa of England.
Additionally, Dean-Charles Chapman (Tommen Lannister on Game of Thrones) will be seen in his second historical drama after GoT as Thomas.
The King revolves around the historical events that took place in and around the year 1415. Likewise, it tracks the journey of Prince Hal as he unexpectedly takes the thrown when Dauphin was supposed to. Audiences will witness the clash of the siblings as the bratty heir Dauphin
Backed up by Netflix, the movie is all set to premiere in 2019’s Venice Film Festival. It is inspired by William Shakespeare’s plays: Henry IV and Henry V.
This new project is produced by Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment. It will be written by Joel Edgerton and directed by David Michod.
Egerton is also playing the role of Falstaff – a comical character that was known to guide Prince Hal as per Shakespeare’s works. He was also considered a bit of a bad influence on the king due to his drinking habits.
The film is all set to be released on Netflix in 2019.
