Shah Rukh Khan to produce horror series for Netflix

Red Chillies Entertainment is working on something big with Netflix. Owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the company is going to produce a horror series for the streaming giant.

Reportedly titled ‘Betaal’, the series is written and directed by Patrick Graham with Nikhil Mahajan as co-director. Rumoured cast of the show will contain the likes of Vineet Kumar Singh and Aahana Kumra.

This isn’t the first partnership between Red Chillies and Netflix. The studio has previously produced two other pieces including the famous show ‘Bard of Blood’ which features Emraan Hashmi and a film titled Class of 83 with Bobby Deol.

Announced recently, Bard of Blood is a 7-episode show which is based on Bilal Siddiqi’s novel of the same name.

Netflix describes the show as “The story is about four Indian intelligence officers belonging to the Indian Intelligence Wing (IIW) who are compromised, before they can relay an important piece of information to India. They get captured and are about to be decapitated. The stakes are high.”

The first look of Hashmi for the series was recently released:

Bard of Blood will premiere on Netflix come 27th September.

Class of 83 was announced by Bobby Deol himself in May this year through Twitter. The film will revolve around an honest policeman-turned trainer and his students.

Directed by Atul Sabharwal, Class of 83 is one of 10 Bollywood movies signed with popular Indian filmmakers and producers which Netflix announced in April.

Other titles include: Ghost Stories, Guilty, Freedom, Mrs. Serial Killer, Yeh Ballet, Kaali Kuhi and Maska.

Khan had earlier stated: “Netflix has shown that Indian stories have a global audience and we would love to use this platform and its reach to tell more stories.”

There is no official announcement for ‘Betaal’. In the meanwhile check out the announcement video below for ‘Bard of Blood.’
