Zoya Akhtar’s MIH shattered stereotypes and dealt with numerous delicate issues in a bold and dignified manner.

MIH gives a glimpse of all that goes on behind-the-scenes of any big fat Indian wedding.

With a homosexual protagonist (Arjun Mathur) alongside the successful yet troubled Tara Khanna (Sobhita Dhulipala), MIH delivers throughout nine episodes.

2. Kota Factory – The Viral Fever

TVF’s Kota Factory is the first ever web series to be created entirely in black and white.

Representing the lives of kids who are looking to pursue engineering, Kota Factory shows real-life problems of Indian school children that are stuck in the rat race.

Starring talents like Vaibhav More, Ahsaas Channa, Aalim Khan, Ranjan Raj, Revathi Pillai and Jitendra Kumar, this series is definitely worth a watch for people with and without science backgrounds alike.

3. Tripling Season 2 – The Viral Fever

The sibling road-trip that the audiences adored in its first season made its comeback this year.

From Chitwan’s (Amol Parashar) quirkiness to Chanchal’s (Maanvi Gagroo) peculiar equation with her husband and Chandan’s (Sumeet Vyas) reactions, the season does not disappoint.

Packed with an exciting adventure and some interesting revelations, the show made us laugh, cry and value our siblings.

4. Delhi Crime – Netflix India

Based on the vile rape case from Delhi in 2012, the Shefali Shah starrer Delhi Crime made headlines with its performances and balance.

Directed by Richie Mehta, the thrilling series managed to restart conversations about the horrific case without disrespecting sentiments.

The series was able to achieve an impressive 8.6 rating on IMDb, proving it was a hit among the audiences.

5. Leila – Netflix India

Based on an award-winning novel with the same name, Leila showed one terrifying version of the future where an authoritarian government called Aryavarta discriminates on the basis of a fictional caste system.

The polarising series is an uncomfortable watch for sure, but the narrative is tight and the performances are solid; especially Huma Qureshi’s, who leads from the front.

Leila also features Siddharth as an Aryavarta worker and Rahul Khanna as the husband of Qureshi’s character.
